Figurative Art

      Millais greatest paintings were perhaps his subjectless figurative paintings, The Blind Girl and Autumn Leaves, of the mid 1850s. Later Millais reverted to a more anecdotal style of subject painting and gave way to a tendency to paint winsome children in a style which, while it derives from Velazquez, is still over-sweet and sometimes coy. Millais was a remarkable draughtsman and illustrator; the series of drawings of modern life subjects which he did in 1853-4 reflect the moral crisis in which he found himself when he and Ruskin's wife Effie fell in love.

I ordered three paintings and they arrived sooner than expected. They're so so gorgeous. Two are hung in my living room and one in my dining room and I literally have to walk into those rooms throughout the day to look at the paintings. The painting is fantastic, just having trouble deciding where to hang it as it looks good everywhere. The painting was very well packaged and arrived in good time. I was concerned that it was coming from quite a long way away and might get damaged but I will have no concerns again. I love the painting so much, I am looking at purchasing another.
