      Emile Friant is an artist who spent little time promoting his paintings in the United States and perhaps this explains why we had not heard of him until recently. Friant paintings generally depict everyday scenes from the lives of poor french folks, much like Bouguereau, though mostly with a looser style - La Discussion politique [Political Discussion], La Toussaint [All Saints' Day], 1888, La Lutte [Wrestling]. Some of these remind us a little of Edmund Tarbell, John Singer Sargent, and Frank Benson.

Beautiful item ! exactly the way it was pictured and it is even more impressive than any picture posted. You really cannot appreciate this without seeing it in person. The paint literally leaps off the canvas and provides a very dynamic experience.
