Some of these last Monet paintings are very loose in handling, and the colors are so garish that you have to wonder if maybe he couldn't really see at all. But Monet couldn't stop, just like his fellow Impressionist Degas, who suffered the same fate and responded to it in the same way. Just keep painting.
